This cathedral was built in 680 A.D., with additions in the 13th century, and the most recent construction began in 1994.
52 Roman Emperors were elected and crowned here.
The original Norman-Romanesque cathedral was built in the 12th century. This is its reconstructed version, built between 1864-76. Inside the cathedral are the frescoes of painter Joakim Skovgaard, depicting the biblical accounts from creation through to the risen, ascended and enthroned Christ.
